About Us
Jamaican cuisine’s rich journey traces back centuries, rooted in African, Spanish, and Indigenous influences that shaped its bold, soulful flavors; while jerk cooking originated with the Maroons, it was the spread of island eateries in the 20th century that introduced global audiences to Jamaica’s culinary heritage; continuing this tradition, Tafari Tropics Jamaican Restaurant opened its doors in Bloomfield, NJ in 2019, proudly serving timeless dishes like jerk chicken, oxtail, and ackee and saltfish, and remains dedicated to delivering authentic island taste with every meal.

I ordered the Curry Goat with a side of fried chicken and it didn't disappoint. The curry goat was tender that gave way to juicy, flavorful meat. For the generous portions and authentic flurs, the prices were very reasonable. The portion was more than enough for a hearty meal.

The best plaintains I’ve had in my life and I’ve had many Jamaican spots. The curry goat is high quality, succulent and tender as you know what. 10/10 every time I go here. Can’t wait to see the finished product after renovations.
